Paragon DMS
Paragon is the identifying name given to the software system developed by Dairydata. Paragon was originally an MS-DOS application that was commissioned around 1993. In 2001 work started on Paragon for Windows which was renamed to Paragon DMS when all applications were now built for the Microsoft Windows platform. DMS stands for Dairy Management System or Delivery Management System, for installations that are not Milk related.

Week Ending
Paragon is a weekly cyclic system, and therefore needs to know which day of the week is considered to be the last day. Back in the days before computer systems doorstep collection took place on Thursday and Friday nights (might be a north of England thing) because people got there wages at the end of the week, still the end of the week was still considered to be the Saturday and customers were charged in advance for the final day(s) deliveries.
When first computerising doorstep delivery businesses the week end was moved to Wednesday and sometimes Thursday so that the computer could produce an accurate bill and therefore a receipt for payment could be given to the customer when collecting. Some early adopters of computer systems still use Wednesday as there week end.
Friday week ends are adopted by some of our Jewish delivery companies, and some of our Muslim delivery companies end there week on a Sunday.
